Shivpuri : Shivpuri is enriched with different visitor attractions. Shivpuri has the large attraction of its natural loveliness and huge cultural tradition. Shivpuri is steeped in the imperial legacy of its history, when it was the summer capital of the Scindia leaders of Gwalior and earlier, its dark jungles were the hunting area of the Mughal rulers when large herds of elephants were captured by ruler Akbar. Much later, it was the Tiger that roamed the forested mounts and many a wonderful animal was bagged by royal hunters. At present Shivpuri is a sanctuary for rare flora and fauna. Its regal past has thus been changed into a lively, positive present. Shivpuri has many palaces and lakes, which tell again of the magnificence this place, must have seen through the reign of Scindias.
Madhav National Park : Madhav National Park is one of the most important wildlife parks in the shivpuri which is spread over an area of 157 sq km and lies between Agra-Bombay road and Jhansi-Shivpuri Road. It was set up in the year 1959. The National Park is open throughout the year. It is a part of the upper Vindhyan hills. It was a famous hunting place for the Gwalior royal family and the British. With a mixed topography of forested mounts, the wooded area being dry mixed and deciduous with plane grasslands in the area of the lake, it offers abundant chances of sighting a mixture of flora and fauna.
Some of the animals living in this park are the four-horned antelope, tiger, blue-bull, chinkara, chital and leopard, Nilgai, Sambar, Chausingha, Blackbuck, Sloth Bear and the ubiquitous common Langur.
Birds like pochard duck, migratory geese, pintail, mallard and teal can also be easily spotted in the national park. Other important birds inhabiting this park are the pond heron, white-breasted kingfisher, painted stork Cormorant, White Ibis, Laggar Falcon, Purple Sunbird, Paradise Flycatcher and Golden Oriole..
Chhatris : Chhatri is one of the famous cenotaphs in Shivpuri which has been erected by the Scindia Princes. Facing each other crossways a water tank are the Chhatries of Madhav Rao Scindia and dowager queen Maharani Sakhya Raje Scindia, in a wonderful fusion of Hindu and Islamic architectural styles, with their shikhara � type spires and Rajput and Mughal porchs.
There is also a Mughal Garden at the place that has the regal tombs of the Scindias. These tombs are bordered by various trees, green copses and cris-cross paths that represent the Mughal architectural style.
Madhav Vilas Palace : The summer palace of the Scindias, Madhav Vilas Palace, looks strongly attractive, painted in a soft shade of rose-pink. The palace has an elegamt terrace, a Ganapati Mandap and marble floors. From the towers, one can find a superb view of Shivpuri city and the Madhav National Park itself. It has been converted into a training centre of the Intelligence Bureau of Government of India.
Sakhya Sagar and Boat Club : Sakhya Sagar Lake and Boat Club are situated on the edge of forests of Madhav National Park. The Madhav Sagar Lake and Sakhya Sagar Lake, created on the Manier River in 1918, are two of the famous lakes of the district and are also important biodiversity support systems in the park.
On the shoreline of the Sakhya Sagar and linked to it by a wide pier is a Boat Club, an airy, delicate construction with glass panels. The boat club is also called Sailing Club.
George Castle : Deep inside the Madhav National Park, the George Castle was built in 1911 by Jivaji Rao Scindia. The castle, positioned at the peak point in the park, was considered to be the during the night halt of King George V during hunting. The best time to stay the castle is at sunset, when Sakhya Sagar Lake looks to get the glow and altering hues of the sky.
Bhadaiya Kund : Bhadiya Kund is a natural spring, known for high mineral content. Many visitors stay this picnic spot near Shivpuri, mostly through the monsoon period.
