Bhojpur : Bhojpur is situated on the Betwa River, 28 km from Bhopal District. Bhojpur gets its name from Raja Bhoja (reg. c. 10001055 CE), the most famous ruler of the Paramara empire.
There is no archaeological proof from Bhojpur before the eleventh century, a fact established by local myths which tell how Bhoja prepared a vow to make a series of dams to hold the streams of 9 rivers and ninety-nine rivulets. A spot was found in the kingdom that permitted the king to complete this vow and the dams were properly built by the side of Bhojpur.
