Ujjain : Ujjain (also known as Ujain, Ujjayini, Avanti, Avantikapuri), is an district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the eastern bank of the Kshipra River. Ujjain is an ideal place for religious tourism in India. Ujjain is one of the 7 holy cities (Sapta Puri) of the Hindus and the Simhastha Kumbh Mela held after every 12 years improved the city's significance as a visitor center. It is also home to Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 Jyotirlinga holy places to the god Shiva in the world and is also the point where Lord Krishna got teaching. The city is center to a plethora of shrine and places of respect. In addition, Ujjain was ruled over by many greatest leaders who have given out their greatest to this historic city.

Mahakaleshwar :   Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple is one of the most famed Hindu temples devoted to God Shiva and one of the 12 Jyotirlingams in India. The temple is situated near a lake and has five stages, one of which is underground.  The lingam at the Mahakal is believed to be swayambhu (born of itself) deriving currents of power (shakti) from in itself as against the other images and lingams which are ritually established and invested with Mantra-Shakti. One of the major rituals completed in this holy place is the �Bhasm Arti� that involves smearing the linga with hot ashes from the burning ghats (cremation grounds). It's also observed as one of the top ten Tantra temples of India, and has the only Bhasm-Aarti (ash ritual) of its kind in the world.


Radha Madan Mohan Templ or ISKCON Temple:   The ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) temple is located 3 km from railway station, on Dewas road. It�s attractive temple and new temple added in Ujjain visiting the attractions. Sri Sri Radha Madan Mohan Temple, of the ISKCON or Hare Krishna society is latest on the map of Ujjain. Its good-looking statues and designing is a main magnetism for visitors. A well preserved Goshala is here just behind the temple.


Kal Bhairava : The Kal Bhairava shrine houses a ShivaLinga under a banyan tree in the margin of the temple opposite to the sculpture of Nandi Bull. It is the place where Lord Kal Bhairava is being worshipped at Ujjain. A declare of Kal Bhairava is found in the Avanti Khanda of the Skanda Purana. This is a must see for the devotees of the Shaivaites.


Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir : This holy place located above the reservoir close to the Mahakaleshwar temple; enshrine a vast creative statue of God Ganeshthe (son of God Shiva). A statue of this size and attractiveness is rarely to be found. The center of the temple is graceful by a statue of the Pancha-mukhi (five faced) Hanuman. There is provision for learning of Sanskrit and Astrology in the temple.


Pir Matsyendranath :   It is a spot of pilgrimage for both Hindus and Muslims, situated on the banks of the holy River Shipra. The place is devoted to the remembrance of Matsyendranath, a great leader of the Natha sect and well-known as �Pir� among the followers. This is a good-looking visitors place close to the Bhartihari Caves and the Gadkalika shrine in Ujjain.

By Air: The Nearest airport is at Indore (55 km) which is connected by flights with Delhi, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Gwalior and Mumbai.

By Train : Ujjain is connected with Bhopal, Indore, Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Kolkata, Chennai & Cochin by train.

By Road : Ujjain is connected with Indore, Bhopal, Ratlam, Gwalior, Mandu, Dhar and Omkareshwar with regular bus service.
