Pench National Park

Pench National Park : Pench National Park is situated on the border of Seoni and Chhindwara districts of Madhya Pradesh state of India, close to Maharashtra's northern border. The reserve lies in the jungle zone that enlarges to Balaghat district in the east and Nagpur to the south.

The Pench Tiger Reserve extends more than an area of 257 sq. km. in the lower southern reaches of the Satpura hill ranges, along the northern boundary of Nagpur District of Maharashtra state.

It was declared a sanctuary in 1975 by Maharashtra Government and move up to the status of National park in 1983. In feburary1999, it was get official status as reserve area for Tigers in India. Pench National Park won the �Best Management Award� in year 2011. Park is well-known for water rafting, only National Park.

It get its name from the Pench River that effluents from the National park from north to south distributing the park into nearly equal western and eastern halves- the well wooded part of Seoni and Chhindwara districts correspondingly.

This Park is easy to get from Pauni on Nagpur Jabalpur National Highway 7. This place is close to Nagpur, Maharashtra and is the most suitable to go into park from Nagpur. Turiya and Karmajhiri are 2 famous entry gates as tourist�s entry, of the park.

This park is situated in the AVSM (Aravali, Vindhyanchal, Satpura and Maikal Ranges) belt, this teak jungle is a dissimilar and a enjoyable surprise to the natural and attractive parks of Kanha and Bandhavgarh.

Park Safari Timing

1st October to 30th June (each year and remains closed) 06:00 AM to 11:00 AM  and
3:00 PM to 6:00 PM

How to Getting there:-

By Air:  The nearest airports are at Nagpur (99 km from Pench) and Jabalpur (210 Km).

By Train : The nearest raiway station from pench is Seoni (35km), Nagpur (99 km)and chhindwara (120 km).

By Road : Pench connected with Jabalpur (210km), Nagpur (99km), Chhindwara ( 120 km), Seoni (35km) by regular services.

On the Nagpur Jabalpur National Highway 7, while at Khawasa a small village, you will find a board that says Pench National Park 12kms, get this metalloid way thru the good-looking teak jungle. You will pass a pair of small village on the way. Lastly you get to Avarghani Village, directions to Pench are clear, and you move towards the Turia entrance gate, which is 1.5kms from this village. Get into an open Jeep and after your official procedure at the gate, enter the Park and enjoy.
