Pachmarhi : Pachmarhi is a hill station in Madhya Pradesh state, also called for the Pachmarhi Cantonment. It is widely famous as "Satpura ki Rani" (Queen of Satpura), located at a height of 1000 m in a gorge of the Satpura Range in Hoshangabad district.
The top point in the central India state and the Vindhya and Satpura range; Dhupgarh at 1100 m is situated here. The largest part of its area is under the administration of the Pachmarhi Cantonment Board, serving the Indian Army. The population of Pachmarhi is approx 10,000 persons only.
Pachmarhi is a tourist retreat. During the Diwali and winters time many tourists visit this site, and there are reasonable services to provide somewhere to stay them. Pachmarhi�s height and the jungles of the Satpuras, with their watercourse and waterfalls, are charming and home to lot flora and fauna.
Priyadarshini : Also famous as the Forsyth point, it gets its name from Captain Forsyth who discovered Pachmarhi in the year 1857. Priyadarshini Point is actually the point from where Captain exposed the wonderful Pachmarhi. The British developed Pachmarhi as a resort and their influence is embodied in its churches and colonial structure.
It is a place from where you can have the panoramic view of the super attractiveness of Pachmarhi. The most amazing outlook from this point is of the Handi Khoh gorge. Also, this point gives you an opportunity to take a view of sunset.
The peaks of Stapura area look joyful and sweltering, when the sun sets touching the amethyst surroundings of the environment.
Jamuna Prapat : An amazing waterfall also known as Bee fall, Jamuna Prapat is located at Pachmarhi. This pictorial fall lies on top of the stream, which provides drinking water for the people of Pachmarhi. Among the all waterfalls in pachmarhi, it is the most accessible. This 50 m waterfall, gently falling down the rock face, gives one of the most charming sights. The bathing pools above the fall are very popular.
Handi Khoh : An imposing canyon with a 300 feet high crag amidst a dense forest, Handi Khoh in Panchmarhi is endowed with marvelous scenery. The clinging rock face of this gulch is a haven of large beehives.
Bounded by a deep woody forest, this lovely place is closely associated with Lord Shiva. The popular belief is that Handi Khoh was a lake earlier. An evil snake, which actually was a demon, was guarding the lake.
Lord Shiva killed the snake and the fury of the divine battle dried up the water in the lake and the empty space assumed the shape of a handi (pot). The locals used to call it Andhi Kho that later took its present name.
Apsara Vihar (Fairy Pool) : Easily reached from Jai Stambh, this 'fairy pool' is a perfect picnic point for families with small children, since the pool is shallow, deepening only in the direction of the base of the fall.
Rajat Prapat ('Silver Fall' or 'big fall') : It is a horsetail type waterfall with a single drop of 107 metres (351 ft).Those looking for adventure will get it in this ten-minute walk over boulders and rocks from Apsara Vihar to the top of Rajat Prapat.
Irene Pool : This pool was named after Irene Bose, wife of Justice Vivian Bose, who discovered it at Pachmarhi. The route upstream leads to a cave, throughout which the flow goes underground and then over a khud in a chain of falls.
Jalawataran (DuchessFalls) : The most attractive of all Pachmarhi falls, it can be reached only on base. The descent to the fall is steep and the journey is quite arduous. These descend plunges down in three different cascades, accompanied by vociferous sounds.
Sunder Kund (Saunder's Pool) : After crossing the stream under Duchess Fall follow a path for 2.5 km in the south- west route, and you get to Sunder Kund. This is a rocky pool where you can swim.
Mahadeo : Mahadev hill has a holy place with an idol of Lord Shiva and an impressive Shivlinga. On the East part of the mount is an outstanding cave sanctuary with attractive cave paintings.
Chhota Mahadeo : Respected as a holy spot, this is a narrow spot in the gorge with rocks overhanging a watercourse and a spring from where water flows down.
Chauragarh : Chauragarh, four km from Bade Mahadeo, is one of Satpura's famous landmarks, where a life size statue of lord Shiva has been enshrined. Travelers require climbing about 1200 stairs (2 to 3 hours) to reach the temple of Chauragarh.
Jata Shankar : One of main attraction spot of the attractive surroundings of Panchmarhi is a natural monument, site of legends and shrine Jata Shankar.
Today Jata Shankar is popular site for tourists - as it is usual in India, people appreciate the tangency of faith and natural loveliness.
Especially a lot of pilgrims come here through Maha Shivratri festivity in February. Dramatic landscape around the cave is often used in Indian movies.
Dhoopgarh : Dhoopgarh is the top point of Satpura ranges, from where beauty of nature is able to be seen. It is 4429 ft. high from ocean level, with a wonderful view of the surrounding ranges. A beautiful view of nature can be enjoyed here and screening sunset and sunrise. During raining days and winter you will experience like you are standing between clouds.
Pandav Caves : The Pandava caves, south of the town centre beyond the cantonment, are believed to have protected Buddhist monks in the 1st century BC, a fact complete by the recent discovery at the cave of the ruins of a stupa from this era (6m in circumference). There are several delightful place near.
Tridhara (Piccadily Circus) : A famous picnic point where two streams meet in a junction.
Vanshree Vihar (Pansy Pool) : A famous point on the Denwa watercourse, cool and shady surrounded by trees, ferns and semi- steamy plants.
Reechhgarh : A beautiful natural amphitheater inside the rock, move towards through a cave-like entry on the South-side.
Sangam (Fuller's Khud - Waters Meet) : This is the lowest of the picnic point on the Denwa and offers fairly great swim pools both under and over the gathering of the waters.
Catholic Church : The Catholic Church is a blend of French and Irish design, constructed by the British in 1892. Its Belgium stained-glass windows put in rare magnetism and loveliness to the structure. The Church has a graveyard close to it and graves date from 1859, World War I and II.
Christ Church : Regarded as the more attractive little church in Madhya Pradesh, it was constructed by the British in 1875. The stained glass windowpanes on the walls and the rear of alter was imported from Europe. The bell of the church is as old as the church itself, and can be heard from a long distance.
Satpura National Park : The Tiger reserve set up in 1981, SatpuraNational Park is 524 sq km in area, includes Bori Wildlife Sanctuary and Pachmarhi wildlife Sanctuary. While Bori is the oldest forest reserve in India and Panchmari is the only one hill station of central India. It spreads through dense forest of ever green sal, bamboo and teak. The beautiful splendor of the Pachmarhi hill is matchless by any structure for and wide.The highest point of Dhoopgarh and Mahadeo, Bori's famous teak and bamboo forests, Pachmarhi's fascinating natural attractiveness of deep gorges, highest mounts, streams, waterfalls and Tawa's vast reservoir join to provide this park unique attractiveness and a wonderful range of magnetisms.
PRINCIPAL FAUNA : Tiger, Chital, Sambhar, Panther, Blue Bull, Bhedki, Blue Bull, Four-horned antelope, Chinkara, Bision (Gour), Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Fox, Black Buck, Mouse Deer, Bear, Flying squirrel, Porcupine, Indian giant squirrel etc. and various type of Birds may also be seen there.

Bison Lodge : The Bison Lodge is the oldest house in Pachmarhi, built in 1862. It now houses a attractive museum representing the rich flora and fauna of Pachmarhi.
The Cave Shelters : As said above, these cave shelters with their paintings give a glimpse into the way of life, spiritual and societal activities and beliefs. A must see for those who liking towards history.
Harper's Cave : So named because of one of its image - a gentleman seated and playing a harp is close to the Jata Shankar holy place. The Chieftain's Cave gets its name from a fight view screening two chieftains on horses. A porch that runs the length of the South, South East and East looks of Kites Crag has some excellent cave paintings, the greater part of which are in white or outlined in red.

By Air: 196 km. from Pachmarhi, Bhopal International Airport (Raja Bhoj Airport) is the nearest Airport. It is connected with Delhi,Mumbai,Gwalior,Indore with regular flights and also connected with international flights.
By Train : Pipariya (47 km), on the Mumbai-Howrah mainline via Allahabad, is the most convenient railhead.
By Road : Pachmarhi is connected by regular bus services with Bhopal (196 km), Hoshangabad (125 km), Pipariya (45 km) and Chhindwara (135 km). Taxis are available from Pipariya (45 km) and Radio Taxies are also available from Bhopal to Pachmarhi.
