Omkareshwar : Omkareshwar is considered to be one of the holiest Hindu places in the India, located at a distance of about 77 km from Indore city. It gets its name from the holy Hindu symbol of Om. This is due to the presence of the Jyotirlingam, one of the twelve in nation.
The site is a pilgrimage site, as there are many Hindu and Jain temples situated here. Lingam is the sign of god Shiva but the Jyotirlingam is unique. Jyotirlingam is described the lingam of glow. It is basically an island, in the figure of Om, on the confluence of the holy Rivers Narmada and Kaveri.
The island is separated into north and south and is linked by an overbridge. A boat travel in Narmada River around the island of Omkareshwar is quite enjoyable.
Shri Omkar Mandhata (Omkareshwar Temple) : The Omkareswara Temple is located on the Island of Mandhata at the banks of Narmada River. This place is one of India�s most charming pilgrimage places. The river Narmada twigs into two and form the island Mandhata, well-known in ancient period as Shivpuri.
The River Krishna links Narmada and the confluence or Sangam is considered a great holy site. Seen from on top of the island is shaped like the OM symbol. The Omkar Island is 2km long and 1km wide, with sharp rock faces on its southern and eastern parts.
Siddhanath Temple : Siddhanath Temple has been a part of this region since medieval period. They are the great design of Brahminic architecture in those periods. The major attraction of the temples is its entrance itself.
A classic illustration of the Brahmic architecture this temple is also main tourist magnetism. The temple is bound by elephants that are carved out of the stone slabs and rise to a height of 1.5 meters. The big Nandi (the vehicle of god Shiva) - carved on the hillside opposite the temple of Gauri Somnath, the 24 Avatars and a group of Hindu and Jain temples should not be missed at all.
Satmatrika Temple : A group of 10th century temples, The tourists may visit the Satmatrika Temples which lies at a distance of 6 kilometers. The temples were established in the 10th century.
Kajal Rani Cave : The Kajal Rani Cave which lies at a distance of 9 kilometers from Omkareshwar can be visited by the tourists. The 10th century Kajal Rani Cave located nearby is worth visiting.

By Air: The nearest airport is at Indore (75 km), connected with regular flights from Mumbai, Delhi and Bhopal.
By Train : The nearest raiway station are Indore (75 Km) and Convenient railheads are Ratlam (212 km) on the Mumbai-Delhi main line.
By Road : Omkareshwar is connected to Indore (75 Km), Ujjain (150 km), Khandwa and Omkareshwar Road by regular bus services and Radio taxies are also available from Indore.
